Cleats for Kids

Cleats for Kids
The Mission of the Cleats for Kids Drive is, through noble venture, to expand public awareness of the sport of Lacrosse as a primary goal with a secondary goal of attracting new sports fans to the Nebraska Lacrosse LaXtravaganza who don’t already have a participating player in the event. This fundraising event is a public awareness opportunity derived out of the ongoing message of “introduction and growth of lacrosse” as communicated as one of the primary roles of Nebraska Lacrosse.
More specific goals of this Cleats for Kids Drive are to; expose young boys and girls to the sport of Lacrosse as an established sport (just newer to this region of the country,) that is growing in popularity at the club level of all ages, and that is a sport that can be “in addition” to other sports they already participate in.
The Cleats for Kids Drive was created as a vehicle to reach out to younger athletes/families already “sports minded” using a common issue amongst any family with a recreational youth athletes at home as been faced with. We all have had an instance having “no longer used “or “to small “cleats and while cleaning out the garage or closet, “what to do with them?” We will assist desiring families in a donation vehicle to get them on the feet of children who may need them.
The Cleats for Kids Drive will communicate the accepting of cleats of all sports to be redistributed through one venue where the end recipient will find value in our bulk donation to spring off a goodwill event of its own. When we establish this fundraiser partner (such as The KROC center,) this joint good will venture becomes a public interest story that will be communicated to the media by Nebraska Lacrosse and our partner and we likely will benefit from additional “free exposure ‘of our goodwill AND exposing lacrosse as a sport as a whole, while funneling foot traffic to our LaXtravaganza weekend as the drop off site for the donations.
By accepting all cleats, we will be tapping into already active families and this “warm market “ will communicate a co-sport friendly message to our community through various materials about lacrosse and that we are not competing with other athletic associations, or sports for that matter, for their children.
Press Release
Nebraska Lacrosse partners with Omaha KROC Center for its Inaugural Cleats for Kids Donation Drive
In conjunction with the Nebraska State Lacrosse Extravaganza this Cleats for Kids donation drive seeks from families “no longer worn” athletic cleats of any sport. Our mission on this donation drive is to provide good footwear that is often just out grown and not worn out, to youth athletes who may not have resources to buy new or needed athletic shoes.
Our “LaxTravaganza” is a three day tournament event that is comprised of both boys and girls high school and youth Lacrosse club teams that concludes with a boy’s high school championship game.
This 2013 Nebraska Lacrosse LaxTravaganza will be held at Burke High School and will be held from Friday May 31st through June 2nd with our championship game to be held at 5:00pm on June 2nd.
Nebraska Lacrosse will have a convenient location set-up throughout the weekend at Burke for parents to donate the footwear. In addition to helping families with footwear for their athletes, we have hopes to spread the word about our exciting and rapidly growing game.
The Omaha Kroc Center will be the recipient of our donation.
